We see famous models striding through the pages of the magazines with confidence and mystery. We all want to know about their storybookLonely in golden place! lives (why else would we all spend so much money on those magazines…).

The Word of God is not a storybook, though, but God’s living word. I realized in the last many years that digging into God’s word is where I will find His will for me. It’s too bad that we don’t spend as much time in the Word as we do reading about the world. The Old and the New Testaments are God’s covenant with us, His children. Jesus died for our sins and to seal the covenant which is everything God promised Abram and more! So lets dig into the Word of God.

1 John 4:4 “…greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Who is the “greater is He” in this verse? God? Yes!

Who is “he that is in the world” in this verse? Answer Satan.

So to make this verse more powerful we need to find out more about God.

Who is God? In John 1:1 it says

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”KJV

And in the Amplified Bible John 1:1 says

“IN THE beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.”

John 1:14 says

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

So the Word (Christ) IS God.

Let’s  paraphrased John 4:4 …greater is the Word that is in you, than he (Satan) that is in the world.

…greater is Jesus that is in you, than he (Satan) that is in the world

…greater is God that is in you, than he (Satan) that is in the world.

So next time you are feeling down, defeated, and overcome. Say aloud

1 John 4:4 “…greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Take time for God everyday. Set a small goal that you will meet with God every morning for 1o – 15 minutes. Make it a habit.

We need to continue to learn more about God and His Will for us. One of the ways we can do this is through spending time studying His Word. Look under the Daily Routine menu under Devotions for a Joyce Meyers podcast. It is a little longer than usual but gives clear instructions on how to have a regular daily devotion time with God. I hope you take time to watch it. One point–she mentions spending an hour a day with God; while an hour is a fabulous goal, you might want to start out a little more modestly at maybe 10 minutes or so to get you started. Over time you can increase the time you spend with God but you should start out with a realistic goal.

Instead of a ‘storybook’ life you will be living the life of a child of the King (that makes you a princess, you know!).

Here is a short 2 minutes and 35 second video clip on getting alone with God.
